Cheers to the Dews once again; we just celebrated 14 years together on September 9th! To celebrate the occasion, our family dined at the lovely Chez Nous in heritage Georgetown. Owner Philippe was very friendly, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal of pork, pasta, cheeses, fine wine, and Belgian beers, toasting and reminiscing our wedding day. Here's a few fun pictures. =)
Interesting fact: On our honeymoon, we met a couple that had also gotten married on the same day. This sweet Chinese couple shared with us why they had chosen 9/9 for their wedding day. Apparently, 9/9 sounds like the Mandarin word for "infinity" or "forever". Now how fun is that?!
Another interesting fact: Many Asians are quite superstitious concerning numbers. You may have heard that "8" is considered very lucky and auspicious, whereas "4" is considered very bad, often denoting death. If you have a license plate or a house number with "8" at the end, you can expect that they have paid more for this privilege! Consequently, in most elevators, level "4" will be listed as "3A" and "14" will be "13A". Luckily, I'm not too superstitious; I predict much prosperity and happiness for the Dews: both this year and for many years to come!
