USA 2014

With another year in Asia on the horizon, we all enjoyed our annual taste of home in July, catching up with friends and family and eating the foods we've missed. Happy to once again be in our familiar world, we had a very "easy" holiday. =)

The kids and I flew back to Texas on our own (Adam had to work more days before joining us, to allow for future holidays!). I must be getting in the travel groove: three planes, four airports, and 36 hours later, we arrived tired but happy to be back in Austin, Texas.

We awoke the next morning much refreshed and mostly on track with the new time. After renting a car, we drove out to meet my parents and sister's family at the lovely Hyatt Lost Pines. What a wonderful three days we spent there over the Fourth of July holidays, and it was such a special treat to catch up with my family! Other highlights included: amazing buffet breakfasts, a horse-drawn wagon ride, floating down the lazy river/relaxing at the waterpark, eating (pork, bbq, steak, ice cream . . .), biking around the landscaped grounds, watching the patriotic fireworks display, and diggin' in to nightly all-you-can-eat smore's!

From there, we drove to Fort Worth and spent the next two weeks with my inlaws, with Adam joining us for the entire second week. Here, we enjoyed simple pleasures: drinking beer, playing games, savoring home-cooked meals, cousin sleepovers, playing with the dogs in the backyard, and for me, a date night with Adam, and shopping at Target! We also enjoyed a few special outings: a Texas Rangers baseball game, a wonderful science museum, an indoor trampoline park, and a Rahr brewery tour.

We then spent a busy week in Austin, me visiting with friends while Adam worked a few days in the office. For our final weekend in the USA, we again met my parents, this time in San Antonio. Here we were pampered at another lovely Hyatt resort, as well as spending a fun-filled day at Seaworld! My girls each took a souvenir "Shamu" with them on the plane back to Malaysia. =)

Sending wishes for safe travels to all those on the roads or in the skies, and if you are visiting with loved ones, may your visits be blessed!
